Samba

€420.00

This puppet is antique and was actually used for several years in Javanese Shadow Theatre.
A representation of the half-God amazingly well preserved which testifies the skillfulness of Javanese old time artisans.

Kresna is a major God and character in the Javanese shadow-puppet Pedalangan story. He married four times. His first wife was Dewi Jembawati, daughter of a monkey-guru and a princess. From this first marriage  Samba and Gunadewa were born. While his brother later went to live like a hermit, Samba always stayed by his father in Dwarawati Palace, as an incarnation of God Drema.
