This magnificent extra large wayang kulit has played a lot in theatres and country stages of Central Java.
Batoro Kolo, according to the indonesian belief, is a bad giant incarnation of semen (sperm) of Teacher Batoro scattered in the sea, when he failed to couple with  the empress  Batari Uma  during a full moon night, because Batari Uma was not ready yet. As Teacher Batoro  failed to control himself with the time, the sperm (kolo) scattered in the sea and  gave birth to a giant called Batoro Kolo, an ogre, a man-eater. This angry character, with orange dress with gold decoration, is an impressive piece of traditional art.
